Nokia Industrial handhelds

Why choose Nokia Industrial handhelds?

4 reasons why these ruggedized phones are the best for your operations:

  • Designed for use in harsh and industrial environments, with IP68 and MIL-810H ratings, Nokia Industrial handhelds are both durable and reliable.
  • They are intuitive to use and easy to operate in the field even while wearing gloves thanks to a clear display, oversized programmable keys, and a range of ruggedized accessories.
  • They support push-to-talk, push-to-video, and other business critical applications. When used with Nokia Team Comms your workers can speak and stream video to one colleague or many.
  • They support a wide range of 4G/LTE and 5G bands, including band 68, for reliable operation around the globe.

Nokia handhelds are an integral part of the Nokia one platform for digitalization, which comprises connectivity, edge computing capabilities, industrial applications for processes, people, device management and network monitoring. By selecting the entire platform, you can access the greatest value, benefitting from seamless compatibility, resulting from intensive planning and testing. Nokia Industrial devices can be leveraged using Nokia private wireless for campuses and wide areas, as well as with third party private wireless networks.

How can you benefit from using ruggedized and EX-protected 5G handhelds?

You benefit from the design – both in terms of the device enclosure and the software within:

  • The large span of bands support coverage around the world and enable global companies to deploy devices with identical software platforms at all their sites, using both 4.9G/LTE and 5G. This simplifies the development and use of company specific applications and use cases.
  • Dual SIMs and the eSIM allow connectivity to both private and public networks as well as flexibility in your choice of operator.
  • Industrial grade radio frequency performance increases the likelihood of reliable connectivity even in areas where network coverage is a challenge.

When do you need 5G EX-protected handhelds?

In hazardous environments, such as at chemical plants or in the oil & gas industry, it is crucial to connect workers using purpose-built and certified devices. These must be classified according to ATEX, IECEX, NEC500 or local specifications, EX in short. They can be safely used in hazardous areas (ATEX Zone 1) or further away (ATEX Zone 2) where flammable atmosphere is not likely but could occur for a short time.

Managed device as a Service model

Nokia will also offer its managed ruggedized 5G industrial devices deployed over Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) in a subscription-based ‘as-a-Service’ (aaS) model. Application bundles include Nokia Industrial device management , which allows administrators to apply group policies and scale management to their entire device fleet, Nokia Team Comms and Nokia Network Digital Twin .

This model allows enterprises to move asset costs from capital to operating expenses and more easily connect workers and manage the fleet of industrial devices in their plants.

How can you add more value to your workforce?

Nokia Team Comms and Nokia Group Communications simplify inter- and intra-team communication to enhance productivity and worker safety. Workers can message others and share images and videos, adding context and meaning far beyond what is possible through voice-only communications, as well as value to your operations.

Small and medium sized enterprises can use 3GPP aligned Nokia Team Comms for reliable team push-to-x communications and can apply different permissions for groups and individual users according to their needs. Pre-integrated in Nokia Digital Automation Cloud and the Nokia MX Industrial Edge server, the app can be easily accessed from your users’ Android devices.

Nokia Group Communications is 3GPP-compliant, meeting your standards-based mission- and business critical communications needs. Push-to-talk and push-to-video are both full duplex, meaning you can talk and share video in the same way you can using an application on your personal smartphone. Thanks to a variety of gateways offered by our partners, the solution interworks with legacy systems including TETRA and P25, making it possible for narrowband and LTE users to communicate with each other.
